Occasion: Promotion/Celebration Party for Prach's Debut Album
Time: 8 P.M.
Date: August 18, 2000
Location: New Paradise Restaurant, Long Beach

Prach's debut album, "Dalama... The Endin' is Just the Beginnin" was a stepping stone for Khmers artists to begin partaking in the music industry. Following the release of the album, a party was held to celebrate Prach's demo album.

KhmerConnection had dibs on center row seats and fortunate enough for all of you, we remembered to bring our cameras! The party snailed its way along as everyone waited impatiently for the latecoming no-shows to show. After a seemingly endless wait, the food was finally brought out by trained regiments of family child laborers trickling from the kitchen one by one with platters of food on hand. Everyone dug into the five-course dinner and tried not to listen to New Paradise's native band perform. There seemed to be an aurora of distaste as the band's flaring guitars and pseudo performers tore the air inside the restaurant apart with notes so high, glasses of water began to stress.

Nevertheless, the music was enjoyable though more thought should be put into how far -10 decibels of music can really travel before shattering the human ear drum. More attention was placed on the sweet and sour soup than what was on stage; that is until Prach made his appearance at the mic. Rippin' the mic up with an acapella from his demo CD, Prach reminded us why we were there, what the occassion was, and how much talent this young man has. The dance floor was barren as a Jennifer Love Hewitt concert. A few of Prach's homies, with a bottle of beer in hand, hopped on the dance floor and tried to arouse the bashful guests. Vice, Versa, and Versatile, three young ladies, made a surprised performance, making us realized Prach wasn't the only one in the room with talents.

Amazingly Vice, Versa, and Versatile's talents did not cease at the mic. Their ability to move on the dance floor impressed us and along with the DJ blasting the speakers with hip-hop music, soon enough the once deserted dance floor was covered with feets. Many did not hesitate to show what they learned from raves and clubs as we witnessed several dances that borderlines between acceptable for pictures and obscenity. We looked around the room and noticed Khmer Connection was the only one with an almost full Hennesey bottle.

Maybe with a little more alcohol in our blood, KhmerConnection might had been able to get on the dance floor and put everyone else to shame, but oh wells...Life isn't fair. :) After a few tracks from the DJ, Prach again resurfaced on stage to perform; this time bringing up several other talents including: Toeum, Lucky, and Dozer. They performed some tracks off of Prach's demo CD, as well as snippets from future albums from the various artists.

All eyes never shifted from the stage except to catch a glimpse of the occasional fly chicks on the dance floor and around the tables. Although the night ended early, Prach was able to utilize every last minute to express his feelings and pride in being Khmer through his music. With a closing statement from Prach, it was time for Khmer Connection to pack up and head home.
